The relation between experimental liver carcinoma and liver cirrhosis induced by successive administration of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene and carbon tetrachloride.

چکیده
p-Dimethvlaminoazobenzene (D.A.B.) was fed to rats for periods of 4 to 24 weeks. The treatment was followed by repeated injections of carbon tetra chloride (CCl4). The groups thus treated were compared with groups which were fed on basal diet after D.A.B. was discontinued . 1) CCl4 was found to act as a promoting factor and to accelerate the carcinogenic process of D.A.B. 2) In comparison with the groups which were fed on basal diet after D .A.B. was discontinued, the groups in which D.A.B. was followed by repeated administra tion of CCl4 showed significantly higher incidence rates of liver carcinoma , liver cirrhosis, liver carcinoma with liver cirrhosis, and nodular hyperplasia . It was further ascertained that this was especially remarkable in the groups given D.A .B. for 8, 10 or 12 weeks. 3) The administration of CCl4 did not influence the histological pattern of D.A.B.-induced liver carcinoma. 4) Positive correlation was found between the incidence of liver carcinoma with liver cirrhosis and nodular hyperplasia. The possibility was pointed out that liver carcinoma developed on the basis of liver cirrhosis and nodular hyper plasia. 5) The modification of hepatic changes in the course of D.A.B. carcinogenesis by the administration of CCl4 was described, and its effect on the development of liver carcinoma was discussed.

The relation between experimental liver carcinoma and liver cirrhosis induced by simultaneous administration of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene and carbon tetrachloride.
The effect of simultaneous administration of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (D.A.B.) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) was experimentally studied on rats. 1) The morphological changes in the early stage of simultaneous administration of D.A.B. and CCl4 were characterized by an earlier appearance of cholangiofibrosis or of liver cirrhosis than in those produced by D.A.B. or CCl4 alone. 2) Simultaneous ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Simultaneous Oral Consumption of Camel Milk and Urine on Cirrhosis Liver Model Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride in Male Rats
Background and Objectives: Special features of camel urine and milk have caused their wide consumption in Islamic and traditional medicine as an anti-microbial, antioxidant, and liver protective substance. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of camel urine and milk in carbon tetrachloride (CCL4) induced cirrhosis. Methods: Twenty-four male rats were randomly divided into 6...
متن کاملQuantitative Study of Collagen Content in Experimental Cirrhosis
Quantitative determinations of collagen were carried out on rat livers showing cirrhosis due to p-dimethylaminoazobenzene and carbon tetrachloride. A twofold increase in collagen content occurred in cirrhosis due to p-dimethylaminoazobenzene. The average total hepatic collagen as well as the per cent collagen content were doubled. The collagen content after 1(1/2) months of normal diet had fall...

The present study appraised the hepatoprotective activity of aqueous extract of Camellia sinensis leaves and its possible mechanism of action against carbon-tetrachloride-induced liver damage. Liver damage was induced by intraperitoneal administration of equal mixture of carbon tetrachloride and olive oil (50 % v/v, 0.5 ml/kg ) in male Wistar rats (150-220g) once daily for...
